A supplier debriefing is a conversation between a government procurement authority and a supplier who did not win a bid. During these meetings, which may happen in person or over the phone, procurement authorities explain why they choose another supplier to handle the bid. The standing offer and name of the successful bidder are shared, and the debriefing may also go over the evaluation criteria used and the strengths or weaknesses of the applicant’s bid. The word debriefing may also refer to similar meetings between procurement officials and contractors or service providers. If you submit a bid to handle a public project and are not selected, you are entitled to a debriefing.
