How to Use the Pomodoro Technique for Increased Productivity

The Pomodoro technique is a productivity tool that makes you focus intensely on a group of tasks. It is a time management tool developed by Francesco Cirillo in the 1980s. The technique is based on the idea that frequent breaks increase mental agility and overall productivity. To utilize the Pomodoro technique to get more done, do the following:

  1. Decide on the task to get done.

  2. Set a timer for 25 minutes.

  3. Work on the task until the timer rings.

  4. After the timer rings, write a check mark on a piece of paper.

  5. Take a five-minute break, then go back to step one.

  6. Once you have four check marks on the paper, take a longer break of 15 to 30 minutes. Then repeat this process.
