Passwords are the gateway to critical business data, especially if you use a lot of cloud-based applications. If you want that information to be safe, you and your employees need to choose your passwords wisely. Follow these tips to come up with a password that works well to protect your data.

  • Don’t use obvious personal information – it’s too easy for others to guess.

  • Stay away from common phrases, such as “work123” or default passwords.

  • Combine upper-case letters, lower-case letters, numbers, and symbols.

  • Use words or acronyms you won’t forget to avoid wasting time on retrieving forgotten passwords.

  • Change passwords monthly or quarterly.

  • Use different passwords for different programs.
